Q&A for the Carpeting Bid

Q: The Instructions to Bidders calls for State of Illinois contractor. I am bidding this project as a General Contractor. What license would you need from a General Contractor. Would my carpet installer contractor's license be sufficient?

A: The bidder would need a contractor license number as per the bid specifications. This information was confirmed by the City of Rolling Meadows community development department.
Follow up reply: General contractors can provide their license number and must also obtain any permits needed to perform work in the city of Rolling Meadows.

Q: In the invitation to bid section, you are asking each bidder to furnish a performance bond in the full amount of the contract. Then in the instruction to bidders section under submittals you are asking for a bid bond. In the bidding process usually you provide a bid bond in the amount of 5 or 10% of the bid amount and then the "successful" bidder will need to provide the performance bond in the amount of the full contract. Could you clarify your intentions on this matter?

A: The Bid Bond (5%) must be delivered with the bid. A Performance Bond in the full amount of the contract can be delivered at the time the contract is signed with the winning bidder.
