Computer Classes Please Note: Most classes are approximately 1½ hours in length. Registration is required, and begins on December 1st. Due to the heavy demand for the computer classes, registration is limited to two classes per registrant starting on December 1st. COMPUTER BASICS    
Tuesday, January 6 at 10:30 a.m.
This introductory-level class is designed for people who have no experience with a computer. Learn basic concepts, how to use a disk drive, and how to maneuver through your desktop. Mousing tutorials are available at the end of class.
 

Introducing . . . the Internet!  
 
Thursday, January 8 at 10:30 a.m.
Let the World Wide Web open up to you. This course is designed for the beginner. We will cover areas such as how to use a browser (Internet Explorer), entering a web address, understanding the menu bar. If you need extra help in using a mouse, please come 15 minutes early to the class in order to receive instruction.

Searching the internet
Monday, January 12 at 10:30 a.m.
Tired of spending hours on the internet and  still not find what you want? This class will give you tips and sites for searching the Internet quickly and effectively.  Participants should be familiar with the keyboard and mouse. It is suggested that you take the Introducing...the Internet! class before taking this class. If you need extra help in using a mouse, please come 15 minutes early to the class in order to receive instruction. 
 

Setting Up a Free E-Mail Account - 2 day class
Thursday, February 12 and Monday, February 16, at 10:30 a.m.

This is a two-day class! Would you like to have an e-mail account but don’t have one? Setup your own free Gmail e-mail account and learn how to send, receive, reply and forward e-mails. Class participants should be proficient in using a mouse, entering web addresses, and scrolling.

Managing Your E-mail Account
This class will be offered again at a later date.

Confused or overwhelmed by all your email? Learn how to store the e-mails you want to save, put e-mail addresses into your contact list, make groups, and send and receive attachments. Participants must have an active web-based e-mail account and know their user ID and password.

Introduction to Word

Learn the basics of working with Microsoft Word. This course is designed for beginners and will cover features such as creating new documents, opening existing documents, cut and paste text, spell-checking your document, and the all important “undo” and “redo” features. Participants should be familiar with the keyboard and mouse.

This class will cover skills necessary to create and edit simple spreadsheets including inserting data, creating basic formulas, formatting text, and saving the spreadsheet. Participants should be familiar with the keyboard and mouse.

INTRODUCTION TO POWERPOINT

This class will cover skills necessary to create and edit simple PowerPoint presentations. Participants should be familiar with the keyboard and mouse.

Fixing Digital Photos - The Basics        
Thursday, February 26 at 7:00 p.m.

Learn how to download your photos from your camera to your computer, correct red-eye, crop pictures, lighten and/or darken your photos, and get them ready for printing or e-mailing. Participants must be familiar with operating a computer and using the mouse.
