Salute to Women’s History Month; Tragedy to Triumph

Sunday, March 7 at 2:00 p.m.
Singer/Songwriter Linda M. Smith will share her musical talent with the art of Italian artist Artemisia Gentileschi, who became the first female painter to achieve recognition in the male dominated art world of the 17th century. Artemisia’s life and work also come alive in two books the library owns, Women Who Changed the World", and New York Best Selling author Susan Vreeland’s The Passion of Artemisia".

Travelogue: Modern Iran - Ancient Persia
Wednesday, May 5 at 7:00 p.m.
Iran has a long, proud history that predates the 7th century Islamic invasion. Its ancient kings preceded the Greeks in promoting human rights and religious tolerance. Now Iran is an Islamic Shiite theocracy. Bill Helmuth will give an eyewitness account of his recent 1000 mile overland trip showing Iran’s realities.

Their repertoire includes broadway tunes, movie theme songs, and many favorites of stage and screen from the 1930s through the 1960s when so many unforgettable songs were written and loved for all times.

Container Gardening

Create a beautiful garden in a big ceramic pot for your patio, deck, or entrance way. See it grow and bloom throughout the spring, summer and fall seasons. Just bring scissors or pruners and Peggy of Garvin Gardens will bring everything else. She will also share summer gardening tips. Supply fee: $15, due at registration.
