MUSIC...
If you love Josh Groban, you will enjoy his new holiday album titled Noel.

If you would like to heat up your cold winter nights, try listening to the warm, sultry style of young British sensation Joss Stone. Start with her first CD Soul Sessions, a collection of 1970 soul ballads, followed by Mind, Body & Soul, and her most recent, genuinely personal CD Introducing Joss Stone.

We have the soundtrack to the movie, Mamma Mia. If you enjoyed it at the theater, you can relive the experience again.

Guess who’s back? Britney Spears has returned to the spotlight with her new music video for the song Womanizer which will be on her upcoming album Circus. Why not enjoy some vintage Britney like In the Zone, Blackout or the forever enjoyable Oops!—I Did It Again.

If you saw the movie in theaters this past fall, or were lucky enough to get tickets to the musical Rent this coming spring, give the soundtrack a listen.

BOOKS ...
On Strike for Christmas by Sheila Roberts. It’s Christmas time again and it seems as though a woman’s work is never done. Four friends decide to go on strike because they are tired of not being appreciated for their efforts. If you like Debbie Macomber or Jennifer Crusie, you will enjoy this new author.

For a truly riveting read try After Dark, the latest work of fiction by the acclaimed Japanese author Haruki Murakami. This distinctive story takes place in metropolitan Tokyo in the hours between midnight and early morning. Like many of Murakami’s previous novels it features complex characters struggling to maintain their secrets and isolation, yet becoming entangled in the desperate circumstances that bind them together. Murakami's graceful writing, sense of humor and sharp insight into the human spirit make this a great read!

Love the One You’re With by Emily Giffin. A chance encounter forces one woman to question her decisions, her marriage and herself. Emily Giffin is also the author of Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and Baby Proof.

Step back into history as you ride along with Noe (Noah) and his family in The Preservationist by David Maine. This charming novel tells the story of Noe, an average man suddenly confronted by God with an unusual request. Even though he is skeptical about his task, Noe complies and what follows is an engaging story of family conflict, love and faith. A great story retold with an innovative approach!

My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult. In this novel, the author addresses what it means to be a good parent, a good sister, a good person. Is it morally right to do whatever it takes to save a child’s life, even at the expense of another child?

MOVIES...
Christmas in Connecticut – Barbara Stanwyck plays a famous food writer, who lies about living on a farm, raising her family and being a great cook. In reality, she is an unmarried New Yorker, who can’t even boil an egg. When her editor tells her that she will spend the holidays with a heroic sailor, her job is on the line. A real holiday treat!

Die Hard – It may not seem like the usual festive movie, but why not watch the original Die Hard for some thrills this holiday season? In this 1988 adventure, Bruce Willis plays the tough but loveable John McClane, a New York cop in Los Angeles trying to spend time with his family on Christmas Eve. A tense hostage situation develops, and Detective McClane becomes a one man defense against international terrorists!

Made of Honor – Tom and Hannah have been friends for over ten years. He’s a serial dater. She’s looking to settle down. Just when Tom realizes that Hannah’s the one for him, she gets engaged to someone else. Tom agrees to be her “maid” of honor in order to stop the wedding.

Sleepless in Seattle – After hearing a man confess his love for his dearly departed wife on a call-in radio show, a woman falls deeply, inexplicably in love with him. Deciding he is her destiny, she treks across the country to meet him. A great Valentine’s treat!
