Computer Classes


Whether you're looking to learn new computer skills for a job, wanting to learn how to use a web-based email, or just have an hour of free time on your hands, the Rolling Meadows Library's computer classes are right for you! The library offers a wide variety of classes ranging from basic computer skills to advanced classes such as Microsoft Word 2007 and My Media Mall. Whatever your skill level, you are sure to find a class that's right for you!

Computer classes are taught in the library's new wireless classroom located on the second level in the Community Room. Classes are approximately 1½ hours in length including time for student questions during and after the class. Classes are offered in both English and Spanish.

Registration is required for all classes and class size is limited, so be sure to sign up early! For more information or to register for classes, please call the library at 847-259-6050. Persons with disabilities can arrange for special assistance by calling the library at least two weeks prior to any program.

Registration for Spring 2014 classes begin on March 1st, 2013.

Introduction to Computers

Friday, March 28th | 10:00 a.m.

This class will introduce you to the basics of computers, their parts, operating systems, and typing.

 


The Internet

Friday, April 4th | 10:00 a.m.

You will learn the basics of using the Internet, including web browsers, researching topics, and reading news stories.

 


Setting Up a Free Gmail Account

Friday, April 11th | 10:00 a.m.

We will set up an email account using the popular email provider - Google's Gmail. Learn how to attach files to an email, create contacts in your account, and adjust settings to create a personalized account.

 


Intro to Microsoft PowerPoint 2007

Monday, March 3rd | 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 3rd | 10:00 a.m.

Find out how to create sophisticated presentations including school projects, photo albums, or sales pitches.

 


Intro to Microsoft Word 2007

Thursday, March 20th | 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, April 26th | 10:00 a.m.

This class will teach you the basics of using Microsoft Word 2007. Learn about formatting, styles, margins, and more.

 


Intermediate Microsoft Word 2007

Wednesday, May 14th | 7:00 p.m.

This class will discuss additional formatting for this word processing software and we will practice setting up mail merge documents.

 


Intro to Microsoft Excel 2007

Thursday, March 27th | 7:00 p.m.
Friday, May 9th | 10:00 a.m.

Learn the basics of Microsoft Excel including how to navigate, enter data into a spreadsheet, use basic formulas, and more.

 


Intermediate Microsoft Excel 2007

Wednesday, April 23rd | 7:00 p.m.
Thursday, May 8th | 7:00 p.m.

This class will explore using more advanced formulas, setting up detailed spreadsheets, and creating charts and graphs. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.

 


My Media Mall

Monday, May 12th | 7:00 p.m.
Friday, May 16th | 10:00 a.m.
