Rolling Meadows Library launches New Shared Catalog on October 20, 2026

This October, Rolling Meadows Library will launch a new shared online catalog that will instantly expand patron access from approximately 185,000 local items to more than 5.1 million physical items across 34 area libraries.

The new catalog comes as Rolling Meadows Library joins Cooperative Computer Services (CCS), a consortium of 34 public libraries located primarily in Chicago’s northern and northwestern suburbs. Wauconda Area Public Library will also join CCS this fall, further strengthening the network.

Through the shared CCS catalog, Rolling Meadows Library cardholders will be able to search, request, and receive materials from any member library directly within the familiar Rolling Meadows system. Requests will automatically be filled by the first available copy within the network, reducing wait times for popular titles and expanding choices without requiring additional item purchases or interlibrary loan requests.

Rolling Meadows Library received a $53,050 Cataloging Membership Grant from Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS) to support startup and migration costs. The grant significantly reduces financial barriers to joining the consortium and allows the library to move forward without increasing costs to the community.

Migration work, staff training, and data preparation are underway throughout 2026 in advance of the October go-live date. 

How to get ready:

• Confirm your account info at the Check Out Desk. Verify your account details or get a new library card during September to earn a giveaway and enter a raffle. Learn more on our Library Card Sign-up Month page. 
• Keep your library card handy during the transition period (October 15–19).
• Place any holds by October 15, as new requests will be temporarily unavailable during the switchover.
• Save any saved lists from your account—they will not transfer to the new catalog.
