Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Rolling Meadows Library!

Attention:

Please Note: Our volunteer program is currently undergoing a complete reorganization, so please bear with us as we complete this task. If you have already submitted an application, it will be kept on file and we will reach out to you again soon.

Current Opportunities

Middle School Advisory Board:

Middle schoolers in grades 6 to 8 interested in collaborating with other kids and helping their community are encouraged to join the Middle School Advisory Board. The group meets monthly during the school year.

Harper Promise:

High school students enrolled in The Harper Promise Scholarship External Link program can pick up a volunteer application at the Ask Me Desk on the lower level of the library. Rolling Meadows residents only.

Friends of the Library:

The Friends of the Rolling Meadows Library are always accepting new members, and there is no cost to join. If you are a community-minded individual with some free time to spare, consider joining the Friends!

Volunteer of the Year 2025

Diane Pagano headshot

Rolling Meadows Library has been a grateful recipient of Diane’s dedicated volunteer service since 2022. One of Diane‘s favorite things to do is to find books “a new home.” Six to seven days a week, she sorts and boxes book donations, and puts aside books to be reviewed for sale in the Friends’ Book Shop. Diane also helps set up and take down the Friends’ three annual book sales. She worked for ten years in Norridge School District 80, purchasing books for the learning center. Diane later worked for the Village of Norridge for 18 years. Before retiring and moving to Rolling Meadows in 2021, she volunteered for five years with the Friends of the Library in Norridge, sorting and boxing books. Diane says that as much as she helps the library, volunteering helps her. “Retiring and moving was a big change. I’m happy [volunteering] here,” she says.

Community Service Hours

The Library does not offer volunteer positions for community service hours. See our list of volunteer opportunities in the community (listed below) if you need community service hours.
